So, its August, still supposedly summer, and I am sitting writing this with the heating on and the gales howling outside. Shouldn't we be barbequeing and sipping chilled rose watching the sun go down? Instead, I am beginning to think what I might like to buy for the "new" season. The list is fairly long, but lets start today with the pleated midi skirt.
As my friends well know, I am really a jeans person, but I do really like the idea of the pleated midi. Perhaps even a metallic one! Perfect for the warmer weather (if there is any left) with sandals and a pretty cami top; perfect with trainers and a plain t-shirt or a sweater; perfect with long boots and a biker jacket. What's not to love. Here are some looks that I particularly like.
One thing I would mention about midi skirts, unless you have the slimmest of legs, the length of the skirt is pretty important. I would advise that the skirt does not finish on the widest part of the calf. Probably just below or just above would be the most flattering. Just saying..!
So lets have a look at a few.
This skirt looks super cool, and is a gorgeous colour, but is quite pricey.
This would look fab with a grey cashmere jumper and a pair of white trainers
Isabel Marant, Etoile - Madlen Pleated skirt, £245
Or Zara has a few options at much more reasonable prices
£49.99, the Metallic Accordion Pleat skirt
Or
Metallic fine pleated skirt at £39.99. This is perhaps a slightly gentler colour.
Max mara has a beautiful slightly longer length skirt, glamorous and opulent in gold
Max Mara, Metallic pleated silk blend skirt, £465
Or, from Christopher Kane, a little pricey at £595 (!) , but oh, so lovely!
So, lets look at more of the high street versions...
From Next, this is the most beautiful colour and a mere snip at £46 I think I might try this one!
Next, Rose Gold Pleated Skirt
Warehouse has a very nice looking silver skirt
Warehouse - Metallic Plisse skirt, £45
There is so much choice out there, I could go on for ever. Also, there are not just metallic skirts, although, these in my mind are the coolest and most glamorous, and maybe the easiest to wear without looking "mumsy". There are patterned, wool, velvet and all sorts of pleated skirts to look out for. I think I will be trying the Isabel Marant, the Zara or the Next one. Maybe, I will get out of my jeans yet!
Happy shopping!
